About Us
The Hospitality Education Foundation of Georgia, Inc. is the statewide link to the next generation of hospitality employees.
|
|
We help more than 2000 students in 78 Georgia high schools gain opportunities to learn about careers in the hospitality industry. Students obtain valuable hotel, restaurant and food service skills through classroom training and on-the-job experience.
As a 501 c (3) non-profit group supporting high school hospitality programs, ProStart and Lodging Management, we are helping to shape the future of Georgia's hospitality and food service industry today.

The mission of HEFG is to be a resource for information, education, and industry connection for Georgia high school culinary and hospitality programs, facilitating development of a solid foundation of skills for the next generation of hospitality professionals. Our mission is accomplished through partnerships with hotels, restaurants, colleges, and industry associations that impart their professional expertise to give students a head start towards their future

- I AM AN INDUSTRY PROFESSIONAL WHAT CAN I DO?

- Become a mentor. Spend a small amount of time and pass on your knowledge. Make a connection to a passionate workforce and bright interested students.
- Help fund activities such as development workshops, career fairs, industry related field trips, and student conferences.
- Donate funds to the Foundation that is training your next employee.

- WHO DOES HEFG SUPPORT?

HEFG supports ALL programs, in Georgia, that prepare students for a career in the hospitality industry or college regardless of the program's name. The focus of HEFG is to help educate and inspire the next generation of students. No membership is required only a passion for hospitality and letting us know you want our help.

- WHAT IS PROSTART?
-
- ProStart is a culinary curriculum for high school that offers scholarships and college articulation. It also offers national certification.
- Yes, ProStart fits into Georgia's new Culinary Arts curriculum.
- ProStart students learn all aspects of restaurant operations during the school day and then put theory into practice through internships.

- ARE YOU A PROSTART PROGRAM?
-
- Four criteria must be met to be considered ProStart in Georgia
- 1. In the annual HEFG survey the teacher has checked the ProStart "Yes" box.
- 2. The School has a set of ProStart 1 books and ProStart 2 books.
- 3. ProStart year end tests (1 and 2) must be offered to interested students. The year end tests give the students access to National Certification, scholarships, and articulations in over 250 colleges.
- 4. The teacher must attend one HEFG event per year.
